Markazia: Transforming a Local Dining Brand into a National B2B Hospitality Partner

A Case in Dynamic Capability and Transformative Brand Strategy

By Abdulrahman Zidan, Mohammad Al-Kharouf and Waldemar Pfoertsch

This case examines how Markazia (formerly Al-Markaziya) successfully transformed from a traditional restaurant into one of Jordan’s leading B2B hospitality partners. By shifting its business model from individual dining experiences to institutional hospitality solutions, the brand strengthened its corporate identity and operational credibility.

Markazia began as a consumer dining brand built around Jordanian hospitality and local flavours, and evolved into a B2B hospitality partner for hotels, corporate offices, universities, event organisers and government agencies – with Gulf expansion under consideration.

The challenge

Jordan’s hospitality demand shifted towards high-volume events – conferences, academic institutions, corporate events and national celebrations. For institutional buyers the question is no longer how good the food tastes but whether a supplier can be trusted to serve hundreds or thousands of guests.

The strategy

Markazia moved from taste-based to performance-based hospitality, making reliability its central brand promise – “We protect your reputation in front of your guests” – with a name, visual identity and brand story (“a quality born in a family kitchen now ensures the success of major national events”) built for corporate environments.

The solution

It built an integrated supply chain: its own livestock farm, B2B meat distribution with daily processing and fast delivery, HORECA supply, banquet solutions, a catering division for corporate, public and government events, and employee-meal and government contracts – supported by a website aimed at procurement decision-makers and digital scheduling and quality monitoring.

The outcome

Markazia ranked first in the meat category on Talabat Mart and supplies dozens of restaurants, hotels and production kitchens. The case describes its shift from restaurant to corporate hospitality brand, from taste-based selection to trust-based procurement, and from local presence to national scale with regional potential.

Learning objectives

  • Explain how a consumer brand rebuilds its value proposition for institutional buyers.
  • Analyze vertical supply-chain integration as a brand element rather than a back-office function.
  • Evaluate reputational risk transfer as the core of a B2B hospitality value proposition.
  • Assess the brand-architecture choices required for cross-border expansion.
  • Identify where automation strengthens and where it threatens a relationship-led service brand.
